High swimming

Live Performance

2021

“Highswimming” is held in the swimming pool, moving performance field from outdoors to the water and closely integrates artists with the pool. The third word of the name is the homophone of “lesson” in Chinese, which represents a state of obsession but also transcendence with current life. Artist Yao Chung-Han jumped into the water and swam back and forth with the opening sound and light performance. Teacher Jia-Ming Day is responsible for one of the performances named “Streamer” with Soprano. The two stripes of glowing balls are driven by a canoe and winding with the soprano’s boat. Due to the buoyancy and the inertia of the water, the canoe must constantly glide forward and cannot stagger, forming a state of flow like a snake. Finally, the soprano plunges into the water and swims back to the pool to end the performance. The performance, which integrates artists, sopranos, and the light balls on the water truly breaks through the tradition.
